| Abstract | Tethered tungsten-alkylidenes bearing azoimido (M≡Nγ-Nβ=NαR), imido (M≡NR), and oxo (M≡O) ligands are synthesized, characterized, and tested as initiators for ring expansion metathesis polymerization (REMP). In addition, tethered alkylidenes are masked via a double-tethered metallacyclobutane moiety that self-accelerates during REMP. Mechanistic details are provided and some characterization of the cyclic polymers that are produced during REMP. |
