Abstract | The University of Miami operates a Residential College system with the aim of seamlessly integrating academic and co-curricular activities within the residence halls. This is achieved through the involvement of faculty members, who either reside in the residence halls with their families (Residential Faculty) or who are affiliated with a particular residence hall (Faculty Fellows). These faculty members collaborate closely with housing staff in Student Affairs to design and execute academic-focused initiatives within the Residential Colleges. In my presentation, I will explore how Residential Faculty have enriched student living environments through academic programming. Specifically, I will delve into the integration of chemistry-based activities and the ongoing development of assessment strategies aimed at maximizing the educational impact of our programs on our residential students. |
